Dear NCHA Members,
As we are all aware, we are faced with ongoing uncertainty with the latest news being a lockdown that has interrupted our season. We have had many questions about how this will impact our upcoming planned 3rd session.
Here is what we have planned in response to these latest developments.
We are hoping and expecting to resume playing hockey on January 10th, following the lockdown.
The next payment following this session will be due 1 week prior to the ending of the 5 week play period. The amount of the final session will be offered at a reduced rate compared to our upcoming session, based upon any further interruptions, and any surpluses as a result of reduced costs compared to budget items, or other savings we can manage to find. We are hoping that the final session will be 5 to 7 weeks.
Should there be no interruptions, we expect the following session to begin on February 14th, making next payments due on February 7th.
We have a goal of finishing the season with a series of games for groups that will serve as a season wrap/playoff for your playing bubbles. We have a few other ideas that we are working on, which we hope we will be able to implement to help all players to further enjoy their development for the remainder of the season.
For your information, NOHA via OHF has approved a modified 5v5 game structure - which looks a lot like the current game format, but is more traditional in the sense that players will compete 5v5. We will be working to implement this upon our return. This will have some impact upon game rosters so that we can accommodate this in as many groups as possible.
Additionally, NCHA has been working diligently with the NOHA and NOHL as we try to move our U15 and U13 AAA teams into a bubble with SMHA, North Bay, and SSM. We have also had discussions with Copper Cliff and Sudbury with regards to creating new bubbles across the board providing this can be done in a safe and productive manner.
We will continue to update you on any further developments as soon as possible.
We wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
