NCHA Novice Hockey for 2018-2019
NCHA and the other local Rep associations will not have Novice tryouts in the spring. If Novice Rep hockey continues next season in our region, NCHA will hold Novice tryouts in the Fall. NCHA and the other local Rep associations are still waiting on NOHA for a final decision in regards to Novice Rep hockey for the 2018-19 season in our region.
To respect Hockey Canada's new Novice Program, NCHA and other local Rep associations will not allow Novice age players to try out in Atom hockey for the upcoming Spring tryouts. The Hockey Canada Novice Program is an essential component in developing the hockey skills of all young kids playing hockey in Canada.
NCHA has a player movement policy allowing exceptional players to move up an age category. Novice age players would have to tryout in the fall in Novice and show independent evaluators that they are rated in the top three forwards or top two defense on the Atom team they would like to move to. The Atom coach and the independent evaluators would need to recommend the player to move up. The NCHA Board would then need to approve.
